UNITED STRUGGLING TO REACH AGREEMENT FOR VARANE

English Premier League giants Manchester United have continued to face a huge stumbling block in their attempt to sign French defender Raphael Varane from Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid this summer. The Red Devils first made their intentions if being interested to sign the defender known some weeks ago and have since started negotiations to land the defender but there are still a few details left to be ironed out before a deal can be struck between the two clubs. United are said to have agreed personal terms with Varane over a transfer but Madrid are insistent that the English Premier League club must meet the transfer demands.

Varane is ready to move to Old Trafford after agreeing personal terms with Olé Gunnar Solksjær’s Manchester United till the summer of 2026. Real Madrid’s initial transfer fee demand was £70 million but have had it reduced to £50 million after United tabled a contract offer of £40 million (plus bonuses that could see it rise to £45 million) but Madrid have rejected the offer and are insisting that United must pay the complete £50 million fee unless they would have to look elsewhere for another defender.

FERDINAND STILL WANTS MANCHESTER UNITED TO SIGN GREALISH

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged his former club to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish in the summer so he can partner with the already-flourishing Bruno Fernandes. United were linked with the signing of Grealish last summer and were close to securing the deal but were put off by Aston Villa’s transfer demands so a deal never materialised.

The Villans were demanding in excess of £75 million if they want to let their captain leave but Ed Woodward deemed the figure outrageous and shut the door on the deal. However, it looks as though Grealish’s stock has risen since then having maintained his status as the club’s best player this season with a number of eye-catching performances.
