Manchester City legend Aguero signed for Barcelona as a free agent in the summer on the back of his ten-year stay in the Premier League and he had to retire from football last week after a heart problem was detected. His exit has created a big vacuum in the Barcelona attack and it could be filled by Uruguayan striker EdinsonCavani who has a little over six months left on his Manchester United contract.

Several British media outlets have reported the interest from the Catalan giants in Cavani but Manchester United officials are keen for the player to finish his contract at the club. He was linked with a move to Boca Juniors in the Argentine league before penning a one-year contract extension earlier this year. Cavani would have been a free agent this summer if not for the contract extension.

Cavani has been restricted to just three Premier League starts this season due to a troublesome tendon injury and the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Italian   team Juventus. His lackofmatch action at Manchester United have not stopped Barcelona from trying to sign him.

Manchester United star Cavani is not the only striker on Barcelona radar. The Catalans have been linked with a loan move for Arsenal striker Pierre-EmerickAubameyang who’s out of the Gunners matchday squad at the moment after a disciplinary breach. Manchester City star Ferran Torres is another striker option for Barcelona though he has not played since sustaining a foot injury while in action for Spain in the UEFA Nations League final clash with eventual winners France.
