English Premier League giants Manchester United have continued to face a huge stumbling block in their attempt to sign French defender Raphael Varane from Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid this summer. The Red Devils first made their intentions if being interested to sign the defender known some weeks ago and have since started negotiations to land the defender but there are still a few details left to be ironed out before a deal can be struck between the two clubs. United are said to have agreed personal terms with Varane over a transfer but Madrid are insistent that the English Premier League club must meet the transfer demands.
Varane is ready to move to Old Trafford after agreeing personal terms with Olé Gunnar Solksjær’s Manchester United till the summer of 2026. Real Madrid’s initial transfer fee demand was £70 million but have had it reduced to £50 million after United tabled a contract offer of £40 million (plus bonuses that could see it rise to £45 million) but Madrid have rejected the offer and are insisting that United must pay the complete £50 million fee unless they would have to look elsewhere for another defender. David De Gea has broken his silence after the Europa League final nightmare he experienced in Gdansk earlier in the week. The Spanish national team shot stopper was the villain as Villarreal beat Manchester United in the Europa League final on Wednesday night to win a major European trophy for the first time.
De Gea posted a picture with legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson on his official Twitter handle on Thursday as he vowed to fight back from the disappointment of Gdansk. The Spaniard missed the decisive penalty in the dreaded shootout to hand the Europa League trophy to the Yellow Submarines from his native Spain. Until his penalty miss, Villarreal and Manchester United players had converted 21 spot kicks. Continue reading EUROPA LEAGUE: DE GEA BREAKS SILENCE
While it seems like an impossible task, we could as well be having a crazy football season on our hands. Current league leaders Manchester City are marching closer to another league title, but their local rivals, Manchester United, who are the second-placed team on the log, are not very far behind and can always take advantage of any slip-up.
During the opening stages of the current season, City were looking very vulnerable and their title credentials came into huge question after they suffered a 2-0 league defeat at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham side. It was an unexpected result and the aftermath of it was a slip down to the 11th position on the table. Continue reading CAN MANCHESTER UNITED SNATCH THE LEAGUE TITLE?
The January transfer window may be coming to an end, but it does not stop clubs from still putting in efforts to seal deals for their respective targets before they finally no longer have the chance to do so. The winter transfer window will be shut once January comes to an end finally and one of the clubs in the race against time to complete their transfer business is Premier League outfit Manchester City.
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged his former club to sign Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish in the summer so he can partner with the already-flourishing Bruno Fernandes. United were linked with the signing of Grealish last summer and were close to securing the deal but were put off by Aston Villa’s transfer demands so a deal never materialised.
The Villans were demanding in excess of £75 million if they want to let their captain leave but Ed Woodward deemed the figure outrageous and shut the door on the deal. However, it looks as though Grealish’s stock has risen since then having maintained his status as the club’s best player this season with a number of eye-catching performances.
